What are "active members" of the Brotherhood of Blessed Gérard?
Our statutes read: They are "members who participate in the Brotherhood's activities".
These are far more than 1400 wonderful persons, who are dedicated to render the various services of our organisation as volunteers or employees.
- all who look after, nurse, care for and help the patients, wards and clients in our care,
- also the few employees, who are responsible for our management and administration,
- those who help and work in the support services of our Care Centre
- and quite a few who support us in fund-raising, membership recruitment and in public relations.
It is a matter of fact that - apart from very few foreign assignments, public relations and membership recruitment - our services as South African Relief Organisation are rendered in South Africa and there they are focussing on the projects of Blessed Gérard's Care Centre in Mandeni, kwaZulu/Natal. Therefore active membership is of course primarily intended for those people who are able to perform these services on site.
Nevertheless we have reintroduced the opportunity that foreigners (i.e. non South Africans) may volunteer in our Care Centre. Click here for more information!
