Poor Sick Fund
Mrs. Marjorie Clark had to have open heart surgery (a triple bypass). The operation was absolutely necessary and had saved her life, but medical aid would only cover approximately a quarter of the cost. The remainder of about R35,000.00 had to be paid for privately. We had promised to guarantee this payment, so that she did not have to worry about the finances.
Therefore we started this Fund which we called "Have a heart for a heart" and we asked people to donate generously, so that we could help Marj to pay for her operation. Donations were kindly given directly to us, the Brotherhood of Blessed Gérard, as we paid for the operation directly.
Please continue to help us to help!
This appeal was very successful and we could assist Mrs. Clark with the finances needed. As she had fully recovered later, she had become an active member of the Brotherhood of Blessed Gérard herself and lead another Club for senior citizens in Mangete together with her husband Gerald and her son Hayne.
Ever since we have helped several other people, who could not afford necessary medical treatment otherwise.

Politely Pleads: Please
Make Me Mobile!
David Dempsey Dunn was given ten days to live.
His family had asked Blessed Gérard's Care Centre and Hospice to admit him, to spend his last days of life in the best possible care and enable him to have a dignified death.
But God had other plans for him –
His state of health improved day by day when he was in our care, so that after three weeks he was strong enough do undergo a life saving operation (amputation of both legs) in hospital and after some further days of recovery and rehabilitation in our centre he has gone home.
The medical staff at the hospital called him their „miracle baby". Call it what you like, it is indeed amazing, to see Mr. Dunn looking so well.
The family have requested that we, the Brotherhood of Blessed Gérard, help them to raise the funds needed to make Mr. Dunn not only well, but mobile again.
The funds will go towards buying Mr. Dunn a wheelchair. Should there be any balance, it will be used to reimburse Blessed Gérard‘s Care Centre and Hospice for the cost of three weeks of full-time intensive hospice care and various ambulance transports to and from Empangeni and Eshowe hospital.

ASSISTANCE TO POOR SICK PEOPLE
Mrs. Marjorie Clark had to have open heart surgery, but the Medical Aid would not cover all the costs. The Brotherhood of Blessed Gérard raised the funds to pay for the difference.
As she has now fully recovered, she has become an active member of the Brotherhood of Blessed Gérard herself and leads another Club for senior citizens in Mangete together with her husband Gerald and her son Hayne.
