Flora Nokubonga: A caring beginning

Care worker holding the infant Flora Nokubonga
Flora Nokubonga with a care worker, Newsletter No. 19 (Pentecost 2000), p. 33.

As the Care Centre began caring for more children around the turn of the millennium, little Nokubonga came into the Brotherhood of Blessed Gérard’s care. Social workers had asked for help. Staff gave her steady affection and a safe daily routine.

The Pentecost 2000 newsletter reports that she developed well and brought joy to the team. At the Easter Vigil baptism she also received the name Flora. Her story is part of the early experience that led to the Children’s Home.
