Newsletter no. 35 (2016) describes small adventures in everyday life at Blessed Gérard’s Children’s Home. For the youngest children, who were not yet old enough for preschool, walks in the bush beside the Care Centre became journeys of discovery. With a caregiver they watched beetles, lizards and sometimes a large crab. They also enjoyed friendly jumping contests.
At Easter the children eagerly waited for the egg hunt in the garden. They then went together to a musical. Some had never seen a stage performance before; two children were invited on stage to dance. On the way home, three girls said it had been their best Easter outing.
These moments show how the Children’s Home offered the children a caring place and carefree time together. The newsletter gives no exact day for the walks or outing. The date shown here refers to the newsletter issue, not the day of the outing.
