Official launch of Blessed Gérard's Children's Home - 9 July 2000

The fate of many children in the greater Mandeni area who have been neglected, abandoned, abused and mistreated or orphaned (especially because their parents died of AIDS), made the Brotherhood of Blessed Gérard decide to start a new project: the Blessed Gérard Children's Home. This is a new home for children who would otherwise have no prospects for the future. The home was provisionally opened on 15 July 2000 in three rooms of the Blessed Gerard Care Centre. Two full-time care workers were employed for this purpose, one of whom lives in the premises. The Brotherhood of Blessed Gérard would like to construct a new building for the children's home.
