Samukelisiwe Biyela worked as a mechanic in iSithebe for many years. Over time she realised that she would rather care for children, and trained as a childcare worker. A friend told her about the Brotherhood of Blessed Gérard’s Children’s Home, where she took up a part-time post.
Speaking on 23 February 2023, she explained how much support children from difficult backgrounds need. She valued the team spirit, the chance to ask questions and continue learning, and above all her work with the children. The newsletter shows her feeding an eight-week-old baby.
