Maresi Rehder met Lucas while accompanying the hospice home care team. He lived in a simple hut beside the house of his siblings. His parents had died, and the family had little income. Although Lucas used his disability grant to help support his relatives, fear of his illness kept him apart from them.
The team visited him at home and cared for him there. Maresi remembered both the hardship of his living conditions and Lucas’s warmth and faith. His story shows why regular nursing care and companionship matter to people isolated by illness and poverty.
