In newsletter no. 36 (2017), Thabani Eric Zungu tells how he came to work at the hospice and in home care.

After completing a home care course sponsored by the hospice, he started volunteering in 2010. The team’s dedication to people who were ill or needed help impressed him. He wanted to make caring for others his own work. In December 2015 he was offered a permanent job as a care worker.

With the home care team, he visits people in the surrounding communities. The team changes dressings, checks that patients have their medication and brings those who are very ill to the hospice when needed. Rain can make the roads to remote homes difficult to travel, yet the team finds ways to reach people.

Thabani is grateful for his colleagues and for work he loves, which also enables him to support his family.
