In the German newsletter no. 25, deacon Thomas Müller recalls a Sunday at Blessed Gérard’s Children’s Home in 2005. He was not feeling well, the children were lively, and at first he struggled to find patience and ideas for play. After everyone spent time outdoors, the mood eased. The children watched birds and a frog, which they later released.

That evening Müller went from bed to bed, wished each child good night and traced a cross on each forehead. In that quiet moment he saw the children with affection again and resolved to meet them with more patience the next day. His account shows how a home is made through everyday care, reliability and reconciliation.

The archive photograph on the same newsletter page shows Thomas Müller with children outside the home. The pictured children are not identified as participants in any particular scene of the account.
