When Mvelo’s grandmother first brought him to the Care Centre, he was four years old and very weak. He spent several weeks in the hospice. The team cared for him, and his grandmother visited as often as she could.
The 2018 newsletter reported that regular check-ups and HIV treatment helped Mvelo regain his strength. He could attend school, play with other children and help his grandmother at home. Visits to the clinic remained part of his routine; there he received the medication that kept him well.
His story shows how reliable treatment and family support can open up new possibilities for a child.
