In newsletter no. 25, volunteer Thomas Müller describes visits to people who were ill at home. One journey took the team over rough roads. They had to carry a light stretcher along the final narrow path. The woman wished to accompany them, and a nurse decided that she could be admitted for care.
During another visit, a woman learned that the brother who had supported her had died. After a gentle conversation, she agreed to come to the Care Centre. In the journey log, Müller recorded such trips with a single letter: “A” for assessment. To him, each entry represented a person’s life.
The archive photograph from the same newsletter shows an ambulance during a home visit. The people pictured are not identified as the patients in this account.
